Workshop on Human Integration and Transformational Leadership


XIDAS organized a three-day workshop on ‘Human Integration and Transformational Leadership’ from October 2-4, 2015. More than 40 participants, mostly Principals and Teachers from various schools of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh attended the workshop. It dealt with the importance of human integration for inculcating effective leadership skills in teachers for managing schools and empowering students with knowledge as well. The resource persons emphasized the necessity of self-integrations for success.


Fr. Kalyan Minj, S.J., Professor, St Xavier’s College of Education, Ambikapur (CG), elaborated on the importance of self-knowledge before imparting knowledge to others. Fr. Alphonse Tirkey, SJ, former Principal of Campion School, Bhopal highlighted the need of effective leaders in schools today to prepare future leadership. Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean, XIDAS, spoke on professionalism in managing schools. He invited all the participants to constantly adapt to changing demands of the hour. Fr. Jerome Minj, Principal, St. Xavier’s College of Education stated that each Principal should have a vision for the institute for at least next 20 years and to realize that vision one should take a SMART (Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-bound) approach. At the closing of the workshop, Fr. Alfred Toppo, S.J., Director, XIDAS, encouraged the participants to have a solid ethical foundation to create a conducive teaching-learning atmosphere in all schools.




First National Students Meet – HENOSIS-2015


Day-I Henosis 2015 is a management-cum-cultural fest conducted by XIDAS. The two day management-cum-cultural event was inaugurated on 12th October 2015 by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor Ms. Lauren Lobo the Nominated MLA of MP and Mr. Vinod  Sharma the CEO of Fifth Avenue Group along with the Director of the institute Fr. Alfred Toppo S.J., the Dean of the institute Prof. Mehul Chauhan. In their speech they emphasized that there is no replacement for hard work and as young minds we need to strive hard to achieve our goals. Henosis consists of management games that ignite the mind and puts the brains to ultimate test; and the cultural night where the bodies are let loose and there in fun and frolic combined with an exclusive fashion ramp and a scintillating DJ performance of the National DJ award winner DJ Jenifer from Kolkata. The event was powered by Red MF 93.5, Track Try. The Hitavada and Triple Treat.


Day-II 13.10.15 The valedictory session of 1st National Students Meet HENOSIS took place at Fr. Camil Bulke, Hall at XIDAS, Jabalpur. The two day management cum cultural extravaganza show cased a tremendous youth talent. Hon. Shri Ashok Rohani, MLA was the Chief Guest for the function. He addressed the students with his motivational words and asked them to be hard working. He said that there are no failures if you work hard. He gave away the prizes to the winners. Mr. Remis Toppo from St. Xavier B.Ed college, Ambikapur was winner of the solo singing competition, Winner for solo Dance was Ms. Uttara Sen from Delhi University, Runners up were Sr. Suchita Kumari from St. Xavier B.Ed college and Ms. Tanvi Khurana from Delhi University. The winner for Group Dance was student team from Delhi University and Runners Up was from Holy Cross Women’s College, CG. The final thunder stealing contest was the fashion show and the winner was  Delhi University and Runners Up was Holy Cross Women’s College, CG. Fr. Alfred Toppo SJ, Director, Prof. Mehul Chauhan Dean and Fr. Amritlal Toppo SJ, Administrator thanked all the guests, participants, students core committee, all the students, participants, guardians and staff for their contribution in making the event a successful one.  All the colleges promised to come back for Henosis 2016.




The Second Fr. Bogaert Memorial Lecture


XIDAS organized 2nd Fr. Bogaert Memorial Lecture on 16.10.15. The Chief Guest and Key Speaker for the occasion was Fr. Louis Francken, S.J. the present Director of Kishor Nagar, Ranchi. Fr. Louis Francken S.J. has served in capacity of Director at XISS, Ranchi and Research Director at ISI, New Delhi. He is one of the last well known Belgian Jesuit Academician in the country. He stressed on the importance of being a heroic leader by following the principles of Self Awareness, Ingenuity, Love and Heroism. He stressed on the work and life of Fr. Bogaert. Fr. Alfred Toppo, S.J., Director delivered the welcome address and Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean gave the vote of thanks. Prof. Kamna Michael introduced the Chief Guest and Dr. Namrata V Jasrotia presented memento on behalf of XIDAS. Other dignitaries of eminence were Tr. Rev. Bishop Gerald Almeida, Fr. Kalyan Minj, S.J., Provincial Madhya Pradesh Jesuits and Fr. Amritlal Toppo, S.J., Administrator, XIDAS. The lecture was attended by all the students, faculty members and guests from across Madhya Pradesh. Post lecture session the Director of XIDAS gave cash assistance for the abandoned children living and studying at Kishor Nagar, Ranchi. The Dean and the Administrator recalled the long standing commitment of XIDAS to serve the poor and the needy.




A Round Table on Collaboration on Climate Change and Sustainability Issues at XIDAS


A Round Table on Collaboration on Climate Change and Sustainability Issues at XIDAS was addressed by Mr. Niroj Mohanty, Managing Director, Core CarbonX Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad. It is the fifth largest climate sector advisory in India. In his deliberation he highlighted the issues of climate change like rising sea level, climate vulnerability. There is need for capacity development to meet this threat of climate change. National Green Energy Fund has INR 18000 Crores and it is increasing every year. Green Climate fund is targeting 100 Billion USD from 2020. There is lot of work being done in different parts of the world including countries like Sudan, Pakistan, Myanmar etc. The need of the hour is proper implementation and research of programmes related to climate change. Fr. Alfred Toppo SJ, Director welcomed the key speaker and Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean thanked him. Prof. S.C. Pandey, NALSAR, Secunderabad, Sr. Pauline JMJ, Administrator St. Teresa Hospital, Secunderabad and Mr. Arun Tripathi Librarian, XIDAS were key dignitaries who were part of the round table delegation.

XIDAS observes Vigilance Awareness Week



XIDAS observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th to 31st October, 2015 as per the guidelines of AICTE, New Delhi. On this occasion various academic activities were organized to make the students, faculty members and staff members understand the concept of Vigilance Awareness Week. The outreach Partners for this event sponsored the prizes i.e., Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station (NTPC LTD.)-Singrauli gave prizes for first four positions in all the categories, Gun Carriage Factory-Jabalpur gave 1st prize in all the categories and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Jabalpur gave 1st prize in all the categories. The topic for panel discussion was Value crisis amongst youth is responsible for lack of honesty in society, the theme for essay competition was Corrupt practices are eroding our social fabric and the agenda for debate was Corruption- The biggest bottleneck in economic progress.  Shri Ajay Vishnoi, former Minister, GoMP, was the Chief Guest of the event and Shri K. J. Rai Chowdhury, Chief  Divisional Officer; IOC was the guest of  honour. They motivated the students with their words to lead a righteous life and also gave away the prizes to the students. The winners for panel Discussion Group A were Sandeep Ojha, Parismith Samal, Md. Sohel Islam, Shankha Shubra Deb and panel Discussion Group B Simi Sarkar, Merlyne Kerketta, Goutam Karunamay and Ghasiram Hembrom respectively. The winners of the Essay Competition in the segment for boys were Avinash Mishra, Sandeep Ojha, Siddharth Gupta and Parismith Samal respectively. In the girls essay segment the winners were Stella Monica, Sanjana Upadhyay, Snigdha Behera and Simi Sarkar respectively. The winners in the segment for debate were Sandeep Ojha, Tony Jacob, Parismith Samal and Atrayee Dutta respectively. The faculty members involved in the Vigilance Week Celebration were Rtd. Brig. Vipin Trivedi, Dr. J.R. Jha, Dr, Namrata V Jasrotia, Dr. J. Pathak, Prof. Ritesh Singh, Prof. Kamna Michael. The support from Dean’s office was rendered by Mr. Lawrence Sequeira and Ms. Mitchel Dais. Fr. Alfred Toppo SJ, Director and Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean called upon the students to make a corrupt free India. Fr. Amritlal Toppo, Administrator thanked everyone for their support during this week long campaign. A special token of thanks to Shri N.K. Sinha, GM, Gun Carraige Factory, Shri K. J. Rai Chowdhury, CDO-IOC  and Shri Sudhir Mudhai Sr. HR Manager, VSTPS- NTPC Ltd. was expressed for their support to inspire the students by sponsoring prizes in various categories.
