Digital India Week Celebrated at XIDAS as per AICTE, New Delhi Guidelines issued via letter 29.06.15


Digital India Week was celebrated at XIDAS from 02.07.15 to 07.07.15. Based upon the guidelines issued by AICTE, New Delhi. The weeklong celebration was inaugurated by Fr. Alfred Toppo, S.J., Director, Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean and Fr. Amritlal Toppo, S.J., Administrator of XIDAS. The students and staff were given insights into areas like Digital India Initiatives, Digital Literacy, E-Services of the Government, Cyber Security and Hygiene, E-Waste Management, Publicizing E Locker, Jeevan Praman etc. A series of lectures and practical demonstration sessions were delivered by Prof. Ritesh Singh, Prof. Anchal Mishra and Mr. Pushpendra Tiwari. In the Independence Day address to the nation the Hon. Prime Minister had announced the launch of Digital India Programme – A Programme to transform India into digitally empowered society and knowledge economy by leveraging IT as a growth engine.

A Four Day programme comprising of the Inauguration and Orientation of new PGDM batch for 2015-17 took place from 15-18, July 2015 at XIDAS. The Inauguration was done by Belgian Fr. Aurel Brys, SJ an academician and social worker. The new students were inspired by the motivational words of Fr. Alfred Toppo SJ, Director and Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean. During the four day session the students were given brief insight about Ignatian Education and Spirituality by Fr. Amrit Toppo SJ, Administrator, Patron St. Francis Xavier by Fr. Ashok Lakra SJ, Treasurer, and Happy Hostel Life by Fr. J. P. Toppo SJ. HoDs of different departments of XIDAS welcomed the new students by giving the students a sneak preview of their respective departments. Resource Person like Brahma Kumari Sr. Bala taught the students Art of Happy Living, Yoga Sessions were conducted by Mr. Ladu of Patanjali fame. Session on Leadership Skills, Conflict Management and Stress Management were given by Dr. Namrata V. Jasrotia, Prof. Cecil Anthony and Prof. Nivedita Abraham respectively. English Ability and Issues of General Awareness were tested by Prof. Kamna Michael and Prof. Ankit Khare. Students under Jabalpur Darshan visited Bhedaghat, Chousath Yogini and Gwarighat which was coordinated by Ms. Vimla Tiwari and Mr. Pushpendra Parihar. The new batch of students comprises of students from different parts of India making XIDAS a mini India.

Prayer meet for former Pres. Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam


A condolence prayer meeting was organized to offer tribute to late former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam at XIDAS, Jabalpur. Fr. Alfred Toppo, S.J., Director recalled late Dr. Kalam as a true Jesuit Alumni who served the nation with unfading vigor, Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean remembered him as a modern day torch bearer of science and ethics for the youth, Fr. AmritToppo, S.J. recalled the immense contribution of the former president in nation building. Mr. VasanthRajaram, a student gave a brief life sketch of Dr. Kalam. All faculty members and other staff and students prayed for the repose of his soul and kept a minute of silence in prayer. The Director declared the closure of the institute to give a respectful tribute to the departed soul.

31.07.15 Watershed Development and Management has been one of the flagship programs on the governments for long time, the forthcoming challenges of global warming and climate change further warns the humanity and calls immediate attention from all quarters, may it be common to  rural or urban, trade and industry, institutions and government world across. To combat the ensuing dangers of water scarcity, degrading lands, dwindling natural resources, dying river systems, vanishing forests, watershed development and management provides sound spring board to engage all stakeholders in an inclusive chain to manage the most scare resources for all future generations. At XIDAS under the PGDM in Rural Management the course on watershed management is taught to the students to equip the future rural managers with right information, appropriate skill – sets and positive pro – nature, pro – poor attitude.


The course is being taught by experience development professional like Dr. Arun Ramesh Joshie, the Founder Director of School of Rural Management, Ratlam A Community College and National Livelihood Resources Institute. Dr. Joshie brings with him the first and experience and adequate expertise to share with students of PDGM (RM) at XIDAS.


Dr. Joshie was supported by Dr. Manisha Garg, faculty from the School of Rural Management, Ratlam and an environmentalist with expertise in cutting edge technology like GIS. She brought  with her the firsthand experience of working with communities in application of modern technologies which help facilitate the students to gain a new scientific perspective to deal with the complex issue of developing watershed with desired outcomes. The sessions were organized from 28.07.15 to 31.07.15 at XIDAS. Fr. Alfred Toppo SJ along with Prof. Mehul Chauhan, Dean thanked the resource persons for transferring knowledge from field lab to the classrooms
