The
Department of Health Care (DHC) aims at promoting the health of
individual, family and community as a whole through holistic
approach, with its special focus on the marginalized groups and
people of the weaker sections of society. To achieve the above,
it offers educational programme especially designed to train
& prepare managers and other professionals who are necessary
to support the health promotion activities by
serving the health care institution in rural and urban
set up, and even at individual and group levels. The course will
also be useful for those intending to acquire consultancy
skills, to develop skills in planning and operating management
techniques; diagnosing and solving management problems to serve
and manage the hospitals and other healthcare institutions in
the country and to meet the rising demand for quality care.
Besides
the department covers different areas related to health care
through research, evaluation, training, and consultancy. The
areas covered are: Public Health and Management, Structure of
Public Health System In India, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM),
Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), Nutrition, Sanitation and
Hygiene, Urban Health, Applied Demography and Population
Dynamics, International Health, Health Economics, Health and
Development, Health Management, Health Communication, Planning
and Management.
Researches
are carried out in the following areas: Health services and
financing, Health legislation and patients’ rights,
Reproductive health, Nutrition and Sanitation, Public health,
Hospital administration.
Training
programmes are organized in the following areas: Epidemiology,
Health Communication, Capacity Building in Policy Research and
Development in Health Projects, Health Impact Assessment, Public
Health Prevention and Practice, Public Health Law Program,
Ageing, Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases,
Capacity Building programmes for Health Functionaries, RCH,
Hospital Administration, Nutrition, Hygiene and Sanitation.
